hi all, ok so its not a wind its an advent but same thing, anyhoo yeah so i wanted a bit of a retro look to my netbook so i took the lid of it and wraped it in sticky back wood vinyl, im pretty happy with it, managed to get the corners nice and neat by warming up the vinyl and pulling it tight, as ya can see ive also done a matchin trackpad, the vinyl does not effect the trackpad in any way, im trying to find a logo to put on the lid now, i did put an apple sticker on it and it looked really good but not retro enough, im thinkin either a logo from and old casio calculator, a rainbow apple sticker or a HAL9000 eye, ill post a pic when ive decided on that one.
anyhoo i know it wont be to allot of peoples tastes, my dad said the top looks like a school canteen dinner tray but hey i liked the canteen dinner trays! lemme know what ya'll think

(p.s might be re-applyin the vinyl as there are a few small bubbles, apparently if you use slightly soapy water when applying it you dont get the bubbles)

The only thing that irritates me is that sticker with the blue heart or something, what's that for

Looks like a great job! I'm thinking of doing something similar but in black or blue (cover everything?)so the fingerprints do not show. Can you post the instructions for working with the vinyl and perhaps some photos? That would be great! Thanks for sharing your efforts with the rest of us!

Those of us in the UK would warn you against going Burberry....Google "Chav Burberry"

Touchpad will still work, because the conductivity passes through the sticker itself.

Here in the US, we dont have "chav"s lol

Here, burberry is regarded as a VERY high priced brand which all the rich people have. (and the wind is only $300-$400 now!!

wow loving the response to this, sorry for the late reply peeps didnt realise anybody had even looked at it yet, just to update ya'll touchpad isnt affected at all, it works fine as the vinyl is thin

although just to point out i just tried placing a fairly thick piece of card over the pad and it still worked so im thinkin you could put thicker stuff on there even sticky back felt!!!! MMMM FUZZY

to get it neat in the corners i very quickly (note QUICKLY) waved a lighter over the vinyl in the corners to soften it then i pulled it round all the way round it is wrapped onto the inside lip of the outershell to give it a tidy finnish, as for instructions well i dont fancy takin the screen apart again just yet but ive got a couple of mods lined up wich do include takin apart the screen again so i may post pics then,

ps i think ive decided on a Hal9000ish emblem on the front so will be cutting a hole a placing in some glass and a red led, jus gotta get the bits together, will post when done

PPS DONE THE MOUSE NOW TOO YAY, will post pics when ive taken em
