Hi there,
i got an msi wind, 2gb ram, dell 1490, bios 1.06. I installed the msiwindosx86 release. Everything's fine but the usb.
I mean, it woeks great with pen drives, hard-disk and so-on, but if i don't connect mouses or internet keys before i boot it, they don't work, it doesn't recognize it. I tried to repair permissions with disk utility, but nothing has happened.
Anyone has the same problem? How did you fixed it? Is something in the bios configuration I ahve to change?
Please, please, please, answer to me....
Thanx in advance to anybody who'll be able to help me.
With regards,
paolo

Did you install the Security Update 2008-005 through the Software Update-function?

Nope, but at least now we know it doesn't work before updating.
You are not alone

Exactly. I thought it happened after the software update. Apparently not.
Both you, jshooter and I have this problem, and possibly a Russian guy (oujirou) too.

So there we are ........

I'm going to test it on my U90 and confirm whether it's true.

Thanks Andrzej,

As per the instructions on that page, I checked the version numbers and found --

kernel version: 9.1.0
system kernel version: 9.4.0
( CFBundleShortVersionString 9.4.0 / CFBundleVersion 9.4.0 )

So it doesn't match.

Will look at the instructions what to do next ...

Marc

Hi Marc,

just install usb_fix_1.3.mpkg file (you can find that file one first page of the thread), select CUSTOMIZE button and then select combo: kernel + system.kext - I selected TOH sleep 9.2 and system.kext and after that all works OK.

Regards,
Andrzej

I cannot install the usb Fix, whenever I try this I do get an error message "Installation has failed: run preflight script for 9.2.0 ToH Sleep Kernel +System.kext"

Has anybody else with a wind and a msiwindosx86 installation been successfull?

regards
Frid

What sed8ed mean is that you should download the 10.5.4 update and instll it. Then kernel will be updated to 9.4.0 properly and usb should work fine.

Will try this myself and see how it goes. But don´t have a usb modem or similar to test until I get back to work tomorrow.

The 10.5.4 you have installed doesn´t have the latest kernel updated properly.

In Terminal you should write

uname -a

and post result.

Should be something like:

Darwin brumbrums-mac-pro.local 9.4.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.4.0: Tue Feb 5 16:13:22 PST 2008; root:xnu-1228.3.13~1/RELEASE_I386 i386
