Thanks to the Guys over at IPIS i managed to make the Headphones work.

You need to install the following:

AppleAzalia kext (you should already have that)
Reggie_SE (Install only the CHUD package from XCODE Tools on the Retail OSX DVD or Download it at http://connect.apple.com/ you need to have an accout there)
switch.sh

Copy the script somewhere on your HD and CHMOD 755 it to make it executable. Now just call it and the Audio switches to the Headphones. To switch back to speakers call it again.

Do not thank me... thank the guys at Ipis. I just modified a script by QuinnStorm to match with our Pinconfig.

AppleHDA is still not working and without that we do not have Audio Input. I have spent the last 2 Weeks trying to hack that Damn Driver - but besides showing all Audio In and out jacks in Profiler and PrefPane it does not make a beep... :(

Worked for me!! But not the way it was supposed to.

FYI, I have one of the new 6-cell 160gb Winds, in case there is a slight difference in codes somewhere.

I installed chud 4.6.1
I installed the HDAEnabler.kext with kexthelper
After reboot, audio no longer worked at all.
I did a chmod 755 on switch.sh
When I ran switch.sh, I got an error about the wrong baseline or something.
I deleted HDAEnabler.kext
I rebooted.
For kicks, I clicked on switch.sh, and it worked!
So maybe HDAEnabler.kext does not need to be installed for some machines?

THANKS, this kicks ass!

1) Google "apple developer passwords". You will find logins there for http://connect.apple.com/. Click on DEVELOPER files and download CHUD 4.6.1. Install that package.

2) Download the two files at the top of this thread. UNZIP to your desktop.

3) Do a search in Spotlight for TERMINAL (It is also located in your UTILITIES folder inside APPLICATIONS folder). Open TERMINAL.

4) Assuming you unzipped to your Desktop as stated above, type:

cd Desktop
chmod 755 switch.sh
./switch.sh

You will be asked for your password. Enter it. Repeating "./switch.sh" should switch back and forth between speakers and headphones.

That's it! For me, anyway. Our esteemed friend Pizzaboy75 (to whom I am eternally grateful) says to install the HDAEnabler.kext, but this step stopped my audio altogether and I had to delete that file. Maybe I did something wrong there (I simply used kexthelper). So if my instructions are not working for you, by all means, include this step!

CAVEATS: not sure what chmod 775 is supposed to do. It changes permissions, yet I still have to enter a password. Also, does anyone have a simpler way to "call" this script? Hopefully somebody comes up with a script for AUTOMATOR that will do the switch with one keystroke (like FN+F1 or something). Maybe I will figure it out. Looking forward to reading this forum tomorrow!

P.S. If you have installed CHUD, then you have installed REGGIE...

by the way, can anyone confirm if the headphone sound survives sleep/reboot?

for example: switched to headphone then restarted

Can anyone automate this using automator and then have it as a package as a whole together with the chud sound file? This would be great
