I'm puzzled as there is no key next to the left shift key. Might this only apply to non-US other-branded models?

On European ISO keyboard, there is a small key next to the left Shift key. Most of the time, it's the <> key. And it doesn't work at all. I haven't tried this kext yet though.

before applying this kext does it affect the general keuboard layout?
As to say.
I'm italian my keyboard is italian and yes it has the <> key just righht to the shift key and yes again it does'nt work.

My question is does this kext affect the keboard layout, and does it affect an external Mac keyboard ?

Sorry for my bad english.

I can confirm it works. I installed the kext using OSX86Tools and restarted. The OS X keyboard viewer now shows the dead key and it switches between open windows in an application when used with the command key, just like it should!

Thanks for the link.

Yup - works well for me. Installed with kext helper, reboot and then all keys are recognised!

Could anyone upload the kext to anything other than Rapidshare? Rapidshare doesn't like my IP address and so I can never download anything (I don't want to go premium for a 13 kb kext) :)

Thanks

Works grand for me - I can now use ~ and ` again, as well as the oft used and much missed window swap shortcut.

What's interesting about this to me is that on a real Mac (ahem!) if you plug a third party keyboard into the USB port sometimes a window pops up saying that the Mac does not recognize the keyboard. It then asks for this particular key to be pressed in order to identify it.

Thanks a lot! This kext solved my dead key too.
I replaced the kext inside ApplePS2Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ by this one and it is working great.

If you need a keyboard layout for your language checkout Ukelele http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14495
It is a free unicode layout editor that comes with many Logitech keyboard layouts that mimic the Windows PS2 keyboards.
Just drop the xxx.keylayout and xxx.icns pair of files into /Library/Keyboard Layouts folder, open Systems Preferences > International-Input Menu tab and select the new keyboard.
