MSI WInd Battery Update From Lion Battery/Mugen Power

I received another update from Lion Battery/Mugen Power. Here is the email I received Tuesday evening, Sept. 16, 2008:

Hello,

You are receiving this email because you requested to be notified when we had an update on the progress of either the 6-cell or 9-cell battery for the MSI Wind (or its compatibles). If you no longer wish to be notified, please reply to this email with the subject “Remove” and your email address will be deleted from the list and you will no longer receive any emails from us.

That being said, we’re pleased to advise you that we’ve worked out an agreement with the manufacturer MSI (Micro Star International) to offer their 6 cell (5200mAh) battery while we await the release of our more powerful 7800mAh (9-cell) battery. The price for this Original (OEM) battery is US$141.95. This does not include any discount. Of course, if you are receiving this email it is because you’ve asked to be notified about these things. So we’re pleased to offer you an additional 10% discount. When placing your order on our web site (http://www.lionbattery.com) enter the Discount Code: MSIWIND.NET and you will receive an additional 10% discount off the purchase price and shipping (if you do not take us up on our Free Worldwide Shipping). This brings the price to US$127.75

We know that the price level is not what we would have liked to offer but it is the best that we could negotiate. Please remember that this price does not reflect in any way what the price level for the 9-cell battery will be. The 9-cell battery is made by Mugen Power (Fattafa Inc) and will be sold directly through us. When we offer the MSI battery, we must purchase this through their distributor and everyone wants to take a part of the profit. So, please do not think that the 9-cell battery will be much more expensive nor will it necessarily be less expensive. The price has not yet been set.

Speaking about the 9-cell battery, we still do not have any further updates. We know that many of you want to know the weight, size, hours of usage and, of course, the price. We’d love to give you this information, but we can’t. We still do not know.

We are in daily contact with the factory trying to squeak out a few tidbits of information, but, we don’t have anything. Please be sure, as soon as we do, we’ll pass the message along.

In the meantime, if you can’t wait another 6-weeks for the 9-cell battery, or if you believe that the 6-cell battery would be sufficient for you, please visit our web site for both the Black and White models. We are trying to get the Silver and Pink ones as well. We’ll keep you posted on that as we progress.

Still, that 'THING' is freakin' HUGE.... I am not sure, if my little wind does not get scared when it sees a monster like this.

Seriously, I think I will go with the 6-cell, Anyway in the car I have 220V and and extra universal battery pack for the plane (for my wife and me), so there is no need. I did not think, it will be THAT big, since the 6-cell is not bigger than the original.

Of course these are just my 2 cents.

I received the same email that Andy0S received. I would have posted it but was out of town on business, and had not checked my email as I was working some very long hours to get a project finished up. Thanks to Andy0S for posting the email and the photos! I will definitely be purchasing one these batteries! The CIO of the orginization I work for has purchased two MSI Winds w/6 cell batteries and wants me to "beef them up", so I guess I get to work a little more "Razz-A-Matazz by Razz"... I'm thinking the same upgrade I gave my Wind. Woo Hoo!!

Hong Kong is just the headquarters of Fattafa,there is no any retail shop of dealer in Hong Kong

Well, I just pre-ordered my 9-cell battery paying with PayPal, using the discount code.

I'll keep you updated on the status of my order. For now, I still have to get a confirmation e-mail. Also, on the page Your orders it still says I haven't placed any orders yet.
